hello my name is paul and welcome to my website. firstly let me say that this site is devoted mostly to collecting vintage reels and fly fishing for salmon , but i also do a lot of pike & trout fishing and of course when things are bad i even resort to stocked fisheries. i started fishing when i was about 4 or 5 years old , my father used to take me on his back over highland streams to catch wild brown trout , and i hope to relive these memories with my own children. fishing has always been an obsession for me , i remember when i was young catching eels , flounders trout, anything that came my way and using unorthodox methods. i can remember the hunt for worms at 2am was almost as thrilling as catching a fish. we used to have whole months down the river and would pass the time by setting a fire , hunting for eels , cooking our dinner and just doing what kids do , these are the days which shaped me as a fisherman , a small fish is still a fish and the thrill was always there.. as i
got older fishing became a way of escaping the day to day stresses of modern
life. i have had 25lb+ pike , 10lb+ brownies and many salmon including
some between 25- an estimated 44lbs. anyway my other passion is old fly reels with a good check which will howl when a fish takes, unlike modern aluminium robot-made mass produced shite... which u can pay up to £600 for. i much prefer an old handmade reel and as such i have started this collection not only for an investment but also obsession. please be aware that every reel in the collection is a salmon reel at 4" or above and i will not present a reel into the collection unless it is in mint condition , i dont have any with filed feet or other defects such as initialled reels or perished handles, so have a good look through the collection and gallery and links etc , im adding new stuff all the time so feel free to offer any info , find out more about me and look at the photos. lastly i would like to say i have a sense of humour too so all comments are welcome and thank you for visiting , i hope you find it interesting and all feedback is welcome...
